Safety Around Dogs; Your Safety Begins with YOU!

Children and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly.  The American Kennel Club believes it's essential that all kids know how to behave safely around dogs by treating them with care, consideration, and respect and steering clear of potentially dangerous situations.

This video is essential for kids who have dogs as pets as well as children who haven't had much exposure to dogs.  Kids will love the step-by-step demonstrations that explain how to meet a dog, what to do when they see a loose dog, what to do when they see a group of loose dogs, and how to read a dog's body language.

BEST FRIENDS - Canine Responsibility

Caring for a dog or other pet is often the first major responsibility in a child's life.  Dogs are, in fact, a major part of early childhood literature simply because children are so interested in them.  However, even though owning a dog can be a great source of pleasure, not everyone is able to devote the time and energy necessary to ensure a dog's well being.  Owning a dog is wonderful, but it also a serious responsibility.

Best Friends is an educational program that will help you discuss the concept of responsibility and responsible dog ownership with your students.  The activities in this program were designed to fit into your curriculum.  They include basic reading and writing, oral presentation, art, science and mathematics.
